Company History

Manekin was founded in 1946 as a family brokerage business in Baltimore by brothers Bernard and Harold Manekin. Now headquartered in Columbia, the company grew with the region and extended its reach into Northern Virginia, Frederick, Prince George's and Montgomery Counties, Southern Maryland, Harford County and those communities that are considered the heart of the Baltimore Washington corridor. We have a history of projects valued at over $2.5 billion in all facets of commercial real estate including development, construction, asset management, brokerage and investment services.

Although it is no longer a family-run business, Manekin remains proud of its origins and its outstanding reputation for providing hundreds of businesses, institutions, owners and pension funds with expert services in tenant and landlord representation, asset and property management, and development and construction. The growth of the firm mirrors the growth of institutional investment into commercial real estate whether through raised commingled funds, publicly traded real estate investment trusts or family offices.

From its multidisciplinary origins the firm has evolved into an investment platform that marries its operational expertise with the yield requirements of its institutional capital partners. The firm is able to lever its local relationships, market knowledge, institutional DNA and ownership acumen into profitable ventures with our partners.
